Eric & Kimberly's Wedding

This was such a beautiful ceremony and reception.  The ceremony took place at Kyper College in Grand Rapids, MI, and the reception at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, also in Grand Rapids.  Everything - every detail was absolutely top-notch.  I have wanted to blog this wedding for a long time, so here it is!

2009 WEDDINGS

Dsc_0311_copy

Are you getting married in 2009? If you are, here's a couple of helpful pieces of information for you.

Because we value the relationship that we build with each client, we are only accepting 20 weddings for 2009. This means, we have 20 spots available to fill, and once we sign the contracts, we won't be taking new clients for 2009 weddings. What this really means, is if you're interested in booking us, we'd love to hear from you very soon.

We've started booking 2009 weddings, and I'm really excited about the client's I've talked to so far! I'd very much love to talk to you about your wedding and learn more about what you're dreaming about :)

So, you're interested but wondering what to do? First, if you haven't already, head over to the site and check out the portfolio. You'll also get an idea of where our coverage starts. When you've done that, send me an email, or pick up the phone - I'd love to talk to you! (517.983.3052)

Once we have a chance to talk, we'll set up an appointment if you're local. Don't worry if you aren't, we'd still love to talk with you and we can work out the details. After we have a chance to talk through exactly what you're looking for, we'll put together a contract for you. A signed contract and a retainer will hold your date. At that point, congrats - you are booked!

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon!

CASEY & SCOTT

So here's some shots of this incredible couple! They were so much fun to shoot for their two-part engagement session. We shot part one last week at Michigan State University with their daughter Sophia, and this week we did a session with just the two of them at Hawk Island Park.

There were way too many great shots, so it was VERY hard to pick just a few for the blog! Stay tuned because I'll post a ShowIt Slideshow shortly!

As an FYI - the 17-55 went crazy on me for some reason, so most of these were shot with my 50mm f/1.4 - which is such a BEAUTIFUL lens!

Casey & Scott Engagement Session

There are a lot more of these to come, but I wanted to share a sneak peak. This was from part one of a two part engagement session with Casey & Scott. Especially fun was that their daughter Sophia joined us, so we got some really fun images with her as well. Their wedding is in September, and it's going to be a ton of fun.

So check back next week for more of this cute couple!

Printing: HP B9180

Let me start by saying that I fell in love with the prints from this printer almost immediately. For fine art, and gallery prints, it is simply amazing.

Okay, so I wanted to write this review for a long time, but here's the truth: If I had written this any sooner, the review would have been VERY harsh. I experienced some SERIOUS issues with this printer, BUT, read on - because HP has made a customer for life.

When you make the decision to invest in a printer like this, you're making just that - an investment. It takes a lot of time to really start to learn what goes into making good prints. Most of us have no idea about color profiles, ICC's, calibration, etc that go into getting professional quality art prints. Even as a professional photographer, I admit - I was pretty clueless.

I'm still a bit clueless, but having a large format printer has really taught me a ton. The first set of prints I made from this printer came out perfect. I got lucky! Seriously, I really did get lucky. Because about a month ago everything went downhill.

I won't get into all of it, but lets say that I've since learned a lot about everything I mentioned above. And most of, I owe to the INCREDIBLE service and support that I received from Jim at HP. I'm not even exactly sure what his job is, to be honest, but I think he's a product manager. He's not a tech support guy, or someone who answers the phone in a call center in India, he's an actual guy who knows his stuff.

After probably 2 dozen emails and a couple of phone calls, Jim walked me through a ton, and stuck with me until we figured out what was wrong. I'm not sponsored by HP or anything, but still, Jim was willing to make the investment to make sure I got it figured out. This included making sure that everything I had was the right equipment and resources.

HP sent me a new set of print heads and ink cartridges (there are 8 of them!) and basically two sets of their advanced photo paper. I didn't ask for this, or for anything really, other than help. They sent it so that they could be sure that the professional printer I had, produced professional results. Mission accomplished.

Most people know I'm a huge Apple computer guy. I probably won't ever buy an HP computer, but because of the incredible commitment to service I received, I can promise you, I will probably alway be an HP printing guy.

Huge kudos to Jim Marshall at HP, and to the HP B9180 Printer.Img_0290_2
