It would have been nice. It could have been wonderful. It should have been destiny. The Detroit Tiger's were at one point picked to win the World Series in three games (which, was a sarcastic way of saying the St. Louis Cardinals didn't stand a chance). Instead they handed it to the Card's.
What went wrong?
The same thing that usually happens when a team falls apart. They beat themselves. That's not to say St. Louis didn't play well - they played just well enough. Detroit, on the other hand, played miserably.
